The Non-Profit Sector Skills Council has commenced its work in its second term as part of ongoing efforts to develop the national skills system. This comes in response to the rapid growth witnessed in the sector and its increasing importance in supporting economic and social development, which reinforces the need to build a specialized skills framework that enhances workforce efficiency and strengthens the readiness of national cadres.
The Council began its activities under the chairmanship of the National Center for the Non-Profit Sector, represented by Mr. Majed bin Nasser Bounheih, with broad participation from government entities and non-profit organizations. The aim is to lead efforts in developing human capital, improving job quality, and enhancing the sector’s attractiveness as a career destination. The Council’s work focuses on identifying strategic skills and professions through the development of an integrated national framework that defines job titles, roles, and professional competencies. It also contributes to aligning education outcomes with labor market needs, thereby supporting effective workforce planning within the sector.
The Council is also working to develop the non-profit sector’s job system with the aim of enhancing job readiness, encouraging the employment of national cadres, improving the work environment, and enabling entities to adopt sustainable operational models that strengthen job stability. In the area of qualification, the Council has launched specialized training programs, most notably the Non-Profit Sector Fellowship Initiative, which aims to prepare executive leaders through an intensive national program focused on transitioning toward strategic leadership. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications to address development challenges.
In this context, Ms. Iman Al-Yami, Secretary General of the Sectoral Skills Councils, stated that the non-profit sector is considered one of the promising sectors targeted by the sector councils due to its role in achieving development objectives. She noted that the Council seeks to build an integrated system that enhances sector efficiency and increases its developmental impact. The Council includes a number of national, development, and academic entities, which enhances coordination of efforts and ensures the sustainability of sector development and the expansion of its developmental impact.
